When the Holy Quran is being misinterpreted, an intellectual attention to the holy Quran, based on scientific research is relevant. The current research in- stitutions do not meet this requirement, though some of them fulfill this need partially. The academicians, students, professionals and people from all walks of life require an educational and research platform with a suitable cur- riculum that may meet their intellectual levels.

International Research Institute of Tafsir Al- Quran (IRITAQ), a research institute run under Jamia Jalaliyya, would enable intensive research on Quran with the spirit of Ihsan, so that understanding about Quran can be enhanced, misgivings can be cleared and fears about Quranic ideol- ogy be dispelled.

We hope - may Allah wish - IRITAQ will fulfill this long cherished vision and dream of Hon. Shamsul Ulama EK Abubakkar Musliar, who was a Qur'anic scholar and a visionary leader, by chalking out workable plans.

▪ To organize a body of well-recognized, well-versed Islamic scholars on a single platform, that will enable authentication of scholarship within true interpretative framework of Ahlussunna WalJamaa’.

▪ Design and run long and short term academic programs that will facilitate the research on how to eradicate misconceptions and false propaganda about the Holy Qur’an and enhance the understanding in true Quranic spirit.

▪ Give true and authentic, easily comprehendible Tafsir for each verse from Ahlu Al Sunna perspective.

▪ Produce a contemporary practical Sunni Tafsir, relevant for all the phases of day to day Islamic life, based on the “spirit of Ihsan” under the strict guidance of Ahlu Sunnah WalJama-a’

▪ Produce articles, journals, books digitally as well as physically; create and develop a website; intervene in social media actively and effectively

_to counter the criticism on Quran, enhance the understanding and to guide community.

▪ To upgrade the research venture to IRRIASTAQ (International Referral Re- search Institute for Authentic Sunni Tafsir Al-Qur’an).

IRITAQ is one of the Projects of Research Consortium run by Jamia Jalaliya, which is governed by Shamsul Ulama Memorial Islamic Charitable Trust. It has been envisioned as a step towards fulfilling Shaikh Shamshul Ulama E. K. Aboobacker Musliyar’s cherished dream of establishing a full-fledged re- search Institute, which can promote the Quran related studies, meet the re- search needs in Quranic interpretations, and intellectually respond to criti- cism against Quran.

On the advice of Muhammed Musliyar Thripanachi, Jalaliya Rathib was es- tablished in 1996, as a spiritual preventive, in the wake of an outbreak of an epidemic in the locality of Mundakkulam. Within few years, a Council was es- tablished under Society’s registration act and several ventures such as Jalaliya Orphanage, Jamia Jalaliya, Jamia Maryam, were initiated for the mul- ti-faceted development of the community. In a move to expand the activities of council, it was upgraded to Shamsul Ulama Memorial Charitable Trust.

Jamia Jalaliya offered a 12 year rigorous academic program which covered 13 disciplines in traditional Islamic curriculum. The Jalaliya educational package also tried to integrate modern sciences and skill enhancement in Arabic, English, Urdu and Persian, into traditional system. Taking a remark- able step towards research in Islamic sciences Jamia Jalaliya established a Research Consortium. As a first project of the consortium, in 2018 it set IRI- TAQ in motion.
